Cartagena Taste is an independent food and travel guide to Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, published in six languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Italian and German) by Mobitech. Our goal is simple: help every traveler eat well, pay a fair price and understand the culture behind each dish.
Who we are
Cartagena Taste is a project by Mobitech Colombia con NIT 900120712-5, a Colombian digital company that has built websites and mobile products since 2015. We know how travelers plan trips today: on their phones, in their own language, often a few hours before they sit down to eat. When we looked for reliable food information about Cartagena, we kept finding the same problems. Reviews were out of date, there were tourist-trap prices nobody warned you about, and many guides were quietly sponsored. We created Cartagena Taste to fix that with a free, independent guide in six languages, built on verified data and updated regularly.
Editorial team: Alejandro Mendoza is a Colombian travel blogger who has been returning to Cartagena since 2020 several times a year to explore its kitchens, markets and street stalls. He’s as happy with a fried arepa de huevo on a Getsemaní corner as with a tasting menu in the walled city. He’s also known for asking what things really cost before recommending them. On Cartagena Taste, Alejandro writes and updates our neighborhood and restaurant guides, combining his own visits with the cross-checked data described in our editorial policy.
Our mission
- Explain Cartagena’s cooking with its history and cultural context.
- Recommend restaurants, bars and experiences with practical, verified details: address, opening hours, price range and the date we checked them.
- Help visitors avoid common tourist overcharges and scams with clear, honest advice.
- Offer the same quality of information in six languages.
How we choose the places we recommend
- Cross-checked data: we compare public ratings and review volume (Tripadvisor, Google), recognized awards and specialist press, and we always state the date we checked.
- Visible sources: every guide ends with a sources section linking to the media and official pages we used.
- Independence: no business pays to appear in our lists.
- Freshness: each article shows its last-updated date, and we review prices and hours regularly.
